Stronger than it looks. Greener than you'd expect.
noook play is made from engineered heavy-duty board. Each disc is formed under 250 tonnes of pressure and treated with a food-grade wax coating that resists stains, sticky fingers, and spilled drinks.
It's an industrially engineered composite, significantly stronger than it looks, designed to withstand the force of children building and climbing inside full-sized structures. Open-ended play with no compromises on build quality or environmental responsibility.
Made close to where it's played
Every noook play disc is manufactured in Britain. The raw material comes from UK and Northern European mills. The finished product ships to UK homes. No unnecessary ocean freight. No opaque supply chain.
We believe the most sustainable product is one that's made where it's sold, from materials you can account for.
Sustainable by design
Sustainable by design
noook play was designed from the start to be a toy worth keeping. Not a trend, not a season, not a landfill contribution. Every material choice, every manufacturing decision, and every design principle was made with longevity in mind: for the child who plays with it, and for the planet that will inherit it.
The material
Every noook play disc is made from engineered heavy-duty board containing 95% recycled content. The board is FSC certified, sourced from responsibly managed UK and Northern European mills. At end of life, every disc is 100% recyclable through standard household card and paper recycling streams.
There is no plastic. No batteries. No electronics. Nothing that ends up in landfill because a component stopped working.
Built to last
Each disc is pressed at 252 tonnes of pressure during manufacture and treated with a food-grade wax coating. That coating makes every piece wipe-clean and resistant to stains, sticky fingers and spilled drinks. It also means noook play survives years of heavy use rather than months.
A toy that lasts is a sustainable toy. The best environmental decision is the one you only have to make once.
Made in Britain
noook play is designed and made in Britain. Short supply chains mean lower transport emissions and a closer relationship with the materials and people behind every product. We know exactly where our board comes from and how every disc is made.
Design as a sustainability principle
noook play was designed during a residency at the Design Museum, London. That origin matters not just as a credential but as a philosophy: things designed well last longer, get used more, and generate less waste. The patent-protected interlocking joint system means every piece in every pack is fully interchangeable. Nothing becomes redundant. Nothing is wasted.
A single noook play disc is the structural equivalent of more than 180 plastic building bricks. Fewer pieces, more build, less material.
What we are working on
We are a small company and we do not pretend to have everything resolved. We are working towards a fully closed-loop return and recycling programme for disc packs at end of life, and towards publishing a full material transparency report. We will update this page as those commitments become concrete.
A note on our claims
We don't use vague language because it means nothing on its own. Every claim on this page is specific and verifiable: 95% recycled content, 100% recyclable, FSC-credentialed material, no plastics, made in Britain. We hold ourselves to the same standard we'd apply to any brand we admired.
